Building Our Community.

Grant proposals are reviewed by the board of trustees and evaluated in reference to the five pillars - Art, Community Development, Education, Environment, and Health and Human Services.

Grant deadline is April 1st annually.

For our 2023 grants, we awarded a total of $1 million to over 60 non-profit organizations.

$50,000 to United Way of Michigan for a new dental clinic in Traverse City that will provide dental services free of charge. This service will serve our most vulnerable populations including children, special needs patients, pregnant women and veterans. They will partner with University of Michigan School of Dentistry and also Northwestern Michigan College who will give their students the opportunity to have an internship at the clinic. This is the first of its kind in our region and will help hundreds of people get the critical dental care they need.

$50,000 to The Rock of Kingsley for the construction of an addition to their current building. The Rock is a robust community and youth center, filled with classes, after school programs, high school tutoring, senior meals, clothes closet, music and game room, and many other activities. The new space will allow them to continue these activities and provide more services.

$50,000 to Petoskey-Harbor Springs Community Foundation for their support of the construction of a new, 60 unit rental apartment community. The building will serve as long term workforce rental housing which is a critical need for the Petoskey area. It will provide a safe, attainable residence for skilled trades, nurses, teachers, retail and food service workers, and many more.

$10,000 to Glen Arbor Arts Center for pottery wheel and potter supplies. The equipment will offer local artists a place to work with ceramics as their specialty, as well as visitors and tourist who wish to try their hand at throwing pots.
